Webster on Growth/Wisdom

Larry Lilly’s Letter 7-23-12

Last week while preparing for a sermon involving the often mentioned idea of Wisdom it dawned on me that I was bereft of a good definition of the term. Imagine how my eyes, mind and heart were opened when I read Websters' Unabridged version online:

"1. Usually capitalized: the effectual mediating principle of personification of Gods' will in the creation of the world: LOGOS 2.a(1) accumulated information: philosophic or scientific learning: Knowledge, all the wisdom of the ages.."

I coupled this with Solomons' statement in Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom:"

Answers In Genesis teaches very effectively that the first eleven chapters of Genesis are the foundation stones of all understanding and I agree. No one; evolutionist or creationist, fully grasps the wonder of creation. Yet the ethical teaching concerning creation is the foundation for all that civilized people hold dear.

Build a lasting building, requires a solid foundation. Building a solid life requires a solid base. We must highly esteem the importance of God and His word of instruction to us. Jesus validated the Creation as communicated in Genesis and taught His followers that the basic problem facing families of His day was the simple yet catastrophic departure from the Word governing the relationship.

Hebrews 11:3 "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

"Missing ChapelI wanted to draw your attention to two Christian leaders our ministry has gotten to know. First, there is Pastor Larry Lilly, who leads Berean Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Indiana and who is the author of Outrageous Forgiveness in 30 Days. I was not here in the office when he gave a chapel presentation to our staff on the topic of biblical forgiveness, but I got some excellent feedback. A couple of our staff members are already going through his book on what the Bible teaches about forgiveness. Pastor Lilly’s website is Larry Lilly Live
