I love to read quotes and pithy sayings as they get my motor running to find a pen and write.
My middle daughter, Jennifer, posted today’s thought on Facebook and I said, Wow, this is a winner.
“Just when the caterpillar thought it was going to die, it grew wings and rose above everything that was holding it back.”
Most people who encourage others usually say something like, “It’s always too soon to quit” and for the most part this is true. On occasion the entire history of the world has undergone positive change because some dreamer refused to give up. The founding of our own country bears this out. How can any American ever forget the struggles of General Washington at Valley Forge? Through prayer and perseverance he prevailed and we enjoy a currently troubled country, with the knowledge that the attributes of God’s character working in our hearts are still valid and God will, in His time, provide the “wings” of deliverance.
When God turns our hearts and we as Christ, set our faces as a flint toward the will of God, we shall experience the restoration of character and excellence.
A favorite verse that I lean on when things get really tough is Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
