During the Battle of Britain Winston Churchill used a speech to encourage the gallant people of his country. He spent a good deal of the radio broadcast encouraging them about the good times coming in the future. He closed the speech with this:
“Until then, death and sorrow will be the companion of our journey. Constance and valor our only shield. We must be united, we must be undaunted, we must be inflexible.”
As I contemplate the current scene in our fair land, noting the pressure to exchange our freedom for a false security, I am reminded that as Christians we are in a battle that is gaining intensity, not until a treaty is made, or until a whistle blows signaling the game to be over, but until an alien voice pierces the sky and the trumpet of the Lord sounds.
All through the scriptures we are warned of this continuing battle, this war against evil and the evil one, the Prince of Darkness. Throughout the scriptures we are also encouraged with one sure theme, in the end right not only prevails, but ultimately evil is chained and banished forever.
Until then we must suffer whatever, while resisting the evil of our time. Until the trumpet call of Christ sounds we must be courageously committed to Him and the right in the war against evil.
Our Order of The Day, “Only be thou strong and very courageous…” Joshua 1:7
