I read a book years ago titled, God’s Cure for Anxious Care, by Dr. John R. Rice one of the influential preachers of yesteryear. The book was very helpful to me as a fearful preacher putting on the front of Larry the Courageous. I haven’t seen a copy of the book in ages. My own copy was lost when our house caught in fire back in 97.
The book came to mind as I read the helps in Charles Stanley’s new book, Emotions Confront the Lies. Conquer with Truth. See if this helps.
“We must intentionally focus on the fact that God loves us and is always faithful to us.”
Knowing this truth helps to set us free to try without the gnawing fear of losing His love if we should fail. The fear of loss via failure is a major contributor to many of life’s serious problems. I knew many men when I was young who had failed so many times in different areas of life that they were afraid to hunt for a job, because an absolute “No” waited at some places. In order to bypass this fear a friend or relative who had a job would attempt to pave the way.
I am glad the Lord goes before us to pave the way. He is a good Brother.
Job 23:10, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”
