Having endured Media disgrace for some years I was encouraged by an article concerning one of our American Military heroes. I noted:
“The New York Times called him, “Opinonative, arrogant and intolerant.” The Kansas City Star asserted: He is a zealot, a fanatic, a one-idea man.” He was Court Martialed and lost the case. All this happened in 1926.
During his army career he was heroic in his actions, accurately forecast the rise of Japan, even to claiming that without bothering to declare war they would attack Pearl Harbor and outlined their War Plan for the Pacific Theater. Yet he was shot down by enemies in our own Military. He died a civilian in 1935.
End of story? Not on your life. Ultimately, our man prevailed posthumously with a special Honorable Medal from President Truman. Check a history and discover our disgraced hero is known as The Father of The United States Air Force, General Billy Mitchell.
General Mitchell brought the truth of the importance of Air Power in future war and paid a painful, but temporary price. Students of such things have heard the name Billy Mitchell. I couldn’t name his enemies if you had a gun to my head!
Truth outlives disgrace. As Christians around the globe are the brunt of jokes and many suffer physical persecution, some to the point of death, remember Proverbs 23:23,” Buy the truth, and sell it not;” Jesus will right all wrongs.
