LLLV18 3-5-2018 True Binding Together Love
Some asked me, “Larry, how long have you and Joyce been together?” To adequately answer the question, I first had to ascertain what he meant by together. On many occasions it’s important to know lest incorrect conclusions be drawn.
Joyce and I have been together since May of 1961, as friends joined at the hip. We were married in August 1964. We never lived together, not that that matters much today, but I just want clarity in my answer. Were saved shortly after we met and were converted to Jesus Christ, thus we followed the biblical teaching of abstinence prior to the vows.
We have been together through deep friendship, marriage, the closest of all human relationships and you can bet we have been through the fire, family wise, financially, and professionally, but, we have been together! Here’s a thought on together from Edward Everette Hale:
“Together — one of the most inspiring words in the English language. Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
Paul gives a thought on together, as a couple or group, especially among Christians.
Philippians 1:27 “Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,”
Steven Curtis Chapman wrote a song; Together. Here’s a stanza:
“Here we stand, here we are
With all our wounds and battle scars
From all the storms and all the wars
we’ve weathered together
We had no way of knowing when
We started way back there and then
How the road would twist and turn and bend
We just knew we belonged together.”
