Is a teakettle happier than you? Could be, here’s why:
“It’s good to remember that the teakettle, although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing.”
Troubles tend to reveal what’s truly going on inside the person. Many sing about Jesus until trouble troubles them, and then the song is gone much like the Jews hanged their harps upon the Willow trees of Babylon while moaning, “how can we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?”
Paul and Silas demonstrate trusting Jesus at midnight in the Max unit of a prison by singing stridently during an earthquake. Acts 16.
Paul writes in 1st Thess 5:16-18; “Rejoice evermore: In everything give thanks: For this is the will of God in Christ concerning you.”
In the coming days we Christians may have the depth of our faith tested to the bone.
