The experience of the shepherds is intriguing when it is understood that they were low on the status poll of their era.
The Society widely considered shepherds scummy, along with Lepers and beggars.
When the shepherds heard and saw the angels, they immediately went to Bethlehem, the house of bread, saw the wonder of Jesus, worshiped Him, and told of their belief widely! Luke 2:20 tells it all:
“Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.” (NKJV)
Then, as now, “Seeing Jesus” brings about a change in perspective.
Working people who were of low esteem, they were not allowed to testify in court, now they are telling everyone about Jesus Christ.
Principle lesson: Get to Jesus! Believe in Him! Follow Him. Tell everyone!
What a wonderful change in their life!
