A Short Time With Larry 4-7-2020 History
“A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about.” Woodrow Wilson
The biblical scenes for Holy Week have at the core the witness of Israel’s willful failure to obey the instructions of God given in the Old Testament and verified as correct by Jesus Christ.
Israel’s history reads like this:
Disobedience, Bondage, Misery, Liberation, Rest, Compromise. Chuck Swindoll calls it cycles of misery!
At the time of Holy Week, Israel was living under the bondage of Rome, ignorant in many ways of her glorious history.
A time when justice favored the wealthy, and exercised brutality to the poor and unconnected.
Jesus often rebuked the leaders for failing to know their history.
Thought Courtesy of Berean Baptist in Terre Haute. Make today count!
