LLLV19 10-21-2019 The Folly of Comparing Self with Others
Psychology Professor Jordan Peterson of Toronto U hits with this line:
“Don’t compare yourself with other people; compare yourself with who you were yesterday!”
I’m Pastor Lilly, and I must say Prof Peterson is on target. Paul warned of comparisons in 2 Corinthians 10:12:
“For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” (NKJV).
Professor Peterson’s take on comparing is known by any good golfer, one that understands his opponent is him at his best past game, and he must beat that number.
Life is like this.
Christians are to compare our quality with Christ, the measure of all things.
To be like Jesus! Wow.
