The word “forgive” in the Greek means to send along to release.
When we cling to the all the dirty tricks played on me, we become victims and that is the loser position in life.
In his great book, 911 Handbook, Ken Crockett wrote:
Every time we recall an injury, we hit the replay on the VCR of our minds and we get wounded one more time.”
In my experience the recurring wounds can be more even than the original. Here’s why.
Each time I hit the replay button, we burn bad circularity into our brain, it gets deeper.
Janis Christy wrote:
“With each replay, the saga of my victimhood becomes more dramatic.”
Joseph is among the worst treated people to ever live. Yet, when a moment ripe for revenge appeared he uttered this phrase to his guilty brothers:
“You meant it for evil against me, but God meant it for good,” Genesis 50:20 in part.
Forgiveness sends bitterness down the road!
