Dr. Don Boys has been a friend of mine for over 40 years. He has faithfully served the Lord over all of his years as a Christian. He served our state of Indiana as a member of the House of Representatives with honor. He serves as Evangelist for many churches that do not fit the Pansies for Jesus mold. I am commenting on an event at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. a short time ago. You may read Don’s entire article here May I Preach at Your Mosque? It’s a real eye opener.
You may have read that the leadership of the National Cathedral, an Episcopal Church with an over the top liberal bent put coverings over the stained glass windows and put prayer mats on the floor, pointing toward Mecca and invited Muslims to pray in the Cathedral. I recall the beauty of the place when, over 50 years ago, I hauled numerous loads of Granite from New England to the then unfinished Cathedral. As the service was beginning Don shares this act of raw courage:
“Just before the Muslims started to pray, a lady caused some to have an apoplectic fit when she stood up, pointed to the cross and shouted, “Jesus Christ died on that cross. He is the reason we are to worship only Him. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We have built enough of your mosques in this country. Why don’t you worship in your mosques? …America was founded on Christian principles…Leave our church alone!” She was escorted out of the church.”
I felt compelled to share this as a regular reader of my articles commented on how much I remind her of Joel Osteen. Please!!
I suppose the admonition of Jesus here, Matthew 5:15 “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” should not be applied to “stalwarts” of the faith who fear the offense of the cross upon which the Light of the world was crucified. Just saying.
I believe the offending lady was met by Jesus who suffered “outside” the gate of nice peoples religion. Hebrews 13:12 “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.”
As your Mid-West version of Joel Osteen, it behooves me to gently admonish you to cast out any idea of throwing the name of Jesus under the bus in order to promote harmony among people who hate His very name.
The Apostle John assures us that one of the reasons for the Bible concerns Jesus; John 20:31 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
