Robert Louis Stevenson wrote:

“Sooner or later, everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences.”

This muse by Mr. Treasure Island is in line with Paul in Galatians 6:7;

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (NKJV)

Strange that Stevenson and Paul should point out a truth that is mostly not understood.

Paul’s harvest and Stevenson’s consequence have a common ground: The nutrients on the plate are the result of choices! The choices must contain the sowing of good or bad seed.

The intention of the sower has much to do with the consequences. Helping someone who is down is a good thing. If you think good will come to you from the person you helped, expect a harvest of disappointment. A harvest will come from God’s hand.

Ever pray for crop failure?
