Revere Thy Mother

A Short Time With Larry 5-8-2020 Mother

“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Eph 6:2-3.

The same admonition is taught several places, including Deuteronomy 5:16, Leviticus 19:3 has it, “revere thy mother and father. “

The Old Testament has the backdrop of a Patriarchic society, so the emphasis on “Mother” first carries a lot of weight as to God’s perspective of Motherhood.

The word Honor has roots in time and involves having time for parents, for our mother.

Our current world has little time for aged parents and many a widowed mother sets alone in her rocking chair. Alone due to failure of offspring to deem her important enough for time.

Many, whose mother has joined the band of the departed identify Ben Happens prose:

“If I could hear my mother pray again, how happy I would be.”
