Many of my articles deal with the impending collapse of Western Civilization, or better, Christendom. A myriad of reasons are given, but the list was compiled long ago in Edward Gibbons' The Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire.
Our founding documents as a nation clearly state the antidote to a catastrophic decline and fall, yet here we are, poised, according to media reports, to go over the cliff.
With the name of Christ, for all practical purposes being banned from mention, in prayers in the Senate, military chaplains prayers and in many venues merely mumbled, is it any wonder that we are confronted with a fast approaching precipice?
Russell Kirk wrote:
“Without Christian culture and Christian hope, the modern world would come to resemble a half-derelict fun-fair, gone nasty and poverty racked, one enormous Atlantic City.”
It can be noted graphically that with each legislated departure from Christian principles, a rise in the above and more is clearly observable.
I admit to some guilt in the current decline, as I was adamantly warned in 1964 that if I, in my first voting election, voted for Barry Goldwater, all of the above and worse would befall our nation. I suppose my vote behind the privacy curtain is now public knowledge.
Christs’ admonition to the church at Ephesus speaks volumes to our nation:
Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else…
