It’s amazing how the Lord works on our thoughts. I don’t understand this, nor have I read after folks who really do, but I do know that when you commit to something, God puts all sorts of ideas, etc., along the path to help you with the things essential to your commitment.
This week my four letters are about prayer. I have found enough thought starters to last at least a year, in just a few hours!
Chiang Kai-shek was the leader of China up to and during WWII and a serious ally of Western Civilization until the revolution in China led by Mao. Chiang, a committed, Christian moved the legitimate Chinese government to Taiwan. Mr. and Mrs. Kai-shek were examples of true Christians. The West has abandoned Taiwan in favor of Mao’s more lucrative market. Chiang wrote concerning prayer:
“Prayer is more than meditation. In meditation the source of strength is one's self. When one prays he goes to a source of strength greater than his own.”
Chiang Kai-shek
Chiang Kai-shek pointed out the difference between meditation and prayer and we should embrace this truth passionately.
Interestingly, prayer is mentioned 109 times in the Bible, pray 310 times, praying 20 times and prayed 65 times; meditation 9 times, all in the Old Testament.
Jesus said in Luke 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”
