5-20-13 Practicing Positive Payback
For the better part of life as a pastor I have invested time, talent and some treasure in helping people up that either fall or dive into some forbidden area of life. For this I get little thanks, but then what we do in Christ’s name is to be done, not for thanks, but to simply obey the will of God as we see it. Do I ever get burned? You should see the charred skin.
One of the reasons I “stick my neck out” is because, were it not for some courageous folk along the way, I would never have survived. Simple as that! It’s known as positive Payback.
Of course I am not the only person who helps people who are considered by many as “unworthy of a mere drop of Christ’s blood.” Woodrow Kroll, noted Bible teacher said,
“Quite honestly, most people are quick to “write someone off.” But our God is a God of the second chance. Learn from One who is patient with you, and you’ll learn to be patient with others.”
This principle is scriptural in that if we learn life lessons from God, we are then to practice toward others, the actions that God has bestowed toward us. Simple? Yes indeed! But get ready for nails, a crown of thorns and a cross if you put this principle into practice. Keep in mind when the storms come that Jesus died for you.
Peter, Lovest thou me?
