An old line posits a man who lived next door to a man from China. One day he noticed the man from China digging and wisely asked, “Digging a hole?” to which the Chinese man answered, “Oh, no, I am going home for the weekend.” Collected Stupid Questions/Wise Answers.
A wise man told a discouraged man who had failed often; “In life it is not the man that fails repeatedly that ultimately loses; it is the man who fails to try again who is the final failure.” Russell de Long.
Mr. Long is correct and Americans must regain the old fashioned courage to keep on trucking.
Many, if not most failures, are the result of not getting our product or idea to the right person.
To illustrate, several years ago a man attempting to sell siding to me, insisted, pushed, cajoled and used every sales trick in the book to get me to buy. I politely shared facts that he should have known prior to the attempt. “Mr. Salesman, I just live here, I do not own the house.”
A parody of The Ladder of St. Augustine is true:
“The heights that great men reached and kept
Were not attained with much exertion
For they while their companions worked,
Were contacting the right person.”
To live abundantly, talk with Jesus.
Psalms 50:15, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
