H.P. Lovecraft, on man’s greatest fear:
“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”
God, our Creator knows this and uses His Word teaching us to trust Him and His plan.
The first man and woman had fear, the fuse of which was lit by Satan, causing Eve to fear God was shortchanging her. Adam, fearing the loss of Eve to death and not having the faintest idea just what death was, capitulated to that fear and the rest is at the root of the sorry history of humanity.
Over against the fear of the unknown is the WORD of God that screams from its pages, “TRUST ME!”
Paul states in 2Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
An unknown future can be trusted to our Known Savior.
