LLLV17 9-21-2017 One Commandment Changes Everything
While on a campaign designed to reduce work to the simplest effort necessary, a note “popped” off a page of an article. This one is monumental and I would like your take on it if you have time. (perhaps you are throwing away the non-essential moves)?
John 15:9 As the Father loved me, I also have loved you: abide in My love.
An ancient story in Church history tells of the apostle John. He would constantly repeat the words, "Little children, love one another." And his disciples became weary of the phrase. Finally, in his old age, as John was being carried to their assembly, the disciples asked him, "Why do you always repeat these same words?" "Because friends," John replied, "it is the Lord's commandment -- and if only this one were fulfilled, it would be enough." Worthy Brief.
George of Worthy Brief, is not a novice. From humble beginnings in Baltimore, MD he now heads up an international ministry headquartered in Israel! Some great daily articles.
I like his take on the main point of John the Apostle’s ministry, “My little children love one another.”
I have served the Lord, often feebly, since my conversion to Jesus Christ in 1962. Having said that, I must add that in the years since, I cannot recall a time when two or more believers could not have solved a situation much better had the said situation been entered with an attitude of true Christian love.
1Corinthians 13 puts forth the same simple position that love among Christians is essential to all true service, even to the ultimate sacrifice involving the Martyrs Crown. Recall Paul’s line:
1Cortinthins 13:3 “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”
Today’s article is just a little thought to help me evaluate my love life with Jesus!
