An article from Mel Branham.

Please understand I am not trying to convince you to claim today’s thought as the magic talisman of having prayers answered. If this were true I would have no long requested items on my prayer list. However, the scripture is clear, Psalms 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”

This statement is Old Fashioned Southern Preacher plain. “Get the meanness out if you want Christ to rule in your heart.” Of course upon invitation Christ will cleanse your heart.

When we practice true forgiveness toward others, it is a sign that we are thankful for Christ’s forgiveness to us. Actually, true forgiveness to others is the result of Christ having worked in us.

In his classic book, With Christ in the School of Prayer, Andrew Murray stated it this way: “Our forgiving love toward men is the evidence of God’s forgiving love in us. It is a necessary condition of the prayer of faith.”

Friend Larry Lilly’s book, Outrageous Forgiveness In 30 Days, is offered in the hope that the reader will ask for the Spirit and the Word to search our heart and reveal whatever iniquity may have taken up residence therein and that we will forsake the vengeful, hate filled thoughts and feelings found within. It is hard to ask God for the welfare of one man, while at the same time, praying for the destruction of another.
