LLLV17 9-7-2017 More on Being You
The program on Monday brought a wave of positive responses. Most admitted to some form of trying to force themselves into the mold someone else decided was the proper one for them. Here’s one that was especially touching as I know the struggles the writer has gone through to break free into the mold of Jesus Christ.
Hi Pastor Lilly,
“I just wanted to tell you that this writing is exceptionally good. It really hits home for me as in the past, I tried to live as others told me and it made me miserable. As I follow the Lord, and listen to Him, I am much happier, even if my life is crazy, and decisions change almost every day, I can rely on the Lord to let me know what He wants me to do not what man thinks I should do. You are an inspiration to me and even though I don't see you as much as I did in the past, your writings are truly a blessing to me.” Pat.
The mental and emotional struggles of many Christians have, at the root, is the lack of biblical teaching on the reality of being Christlike.
Monday’s article mentioned: “Some of the meanest people I have ever known met the “conditions” laid out by religionists, yet they had none of the spiritual traits of Jesus!” This produced a Harvey like storm of comments. Many who liked the rest of the article were “offended” by that the statement. I only spoke of which I have noted over 55 years of walking with Jesus, and yes, as Peter, sometimes afar off.
One pastor who helped me along the way said to me after hearing me preach on the street: “Larry, you have a grand testimony and you are a good speaker. When you get over the mean streak, you will be greatly used.” He later performed the wedding ceremony for Joyce and me.
When you are “going through it,” try to recall this bit:
“Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.” Anonymous.
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
