Me Myself and I

01-15-13 Me Myself and I.

While driving home the other day I noticed a church sign that really hit the nail on the head. It was a simple and short statement, easy to read while driving well above the speed limit.

“Escorting God Out?”

The statement conjured a line from a childhood song, performed in what was the Hillbilly genre, now it would be Country. The line stated, “They locked God outside the Iron Curtain, on old Satan they have placed the kingly crown. But this evil nation will never find salvation til the Lord tears the Iron Curtain down.” A cartoon of the time had a man pushing a wheelbarrow, with a drawing of God in it, up to the Iron Curtain and the caption reading, “Get out!”

I shall not rant about current similarities in a modern country. But before a country can do such a thing, many individuals must agree, or a least acquiesce, to this outrage. Let’s look at the words from the church sign again.

Escort
God
Out

Notice the upper case letters? E G O.

Merriam Webster’s Unabridged gives definitions of ego from here to eternity, all of which emphasize self, me. There seems to be three options concerning the Universe, Helio Centric, Geo Centric and Ego Centric. Strangely, the most widely accepted is Ego Centric, meaning “I am the center of my universe, it’s all about me.” A minority view is Christo Centric, “My world revolves around Christ.”

In fact, just about everyone has acquiesced in the outrage. It has taken a while, There was a lot of noise at first, but then as Hollywood defines Normal, the new normal has come to be a light hidden under a bushel.

Every perversion imaginable is not only tolerated but encouraged, while the only thing intolerable is
a positive mention of Christ. Every religion except Christian is welcome and encouraged, even those that require the murder of rape victims. But a mention of Jesus is treated as a violation of the First Amendment. And we have come to accept this as normal, and have become comfortable with going along with it. We can eat in a Chinese restaurant under the gaze of a big Buddha, but we dare not say grace in public for fear of offending someone?

In fact the censorship is almost 100% voluntary, based on the timidity of those who sing of putting on the full armor of God and marching off as if to war. Its kind of like the case of a German soldier who, when ordered to murder a group of civilians, replied "I will not put my hand to this." His punishment was that he was balled out, for an official penalty would have betrayed their transparent denial of committing atrocities.

Its kind of like when all the men who followed Jesus ran and hid when He was crucified. But in our case the cock hasn't even crowed once. And as Christians in Egypt are treated like the early Christians in Rome, we quietly acquiesce to that as well, and send their murderers a billion dollars a year to finance it.

Dear Bro. Larry, Wow does this hit the target with what is taking place in our country right now. These are very troubling times we are living with. Emotions are running at a very tense level in the state of Illinois where I live & all across our nation. This message hit the nail on the head because so many people are wanting to remove God from our lives. Our President & other elected representatives all seem to forget the roots of our founding fathers, the importance of God's presence is all over our country, but especially in Washington, DC because when the buildings were built our leaders then still honored & believed in what part God had played in the founding of our nation. It is my prayer as I am sure many of us are on our knees praying, that God steps in & turns them all around after he smacks them in the back of the head to get their attention.
