Making a Dream Reality

As I write these articles I enjoy finding neat, often biting little sayings and using them to break what I consider the dreariness of much of what is called Christian writing. I found a gem for today:

“Reality continues to ruin my life.”

― Bill Watterson, The Complete Calvin and Hobbes

To a fellow whose number 5 song in the top 10 list is The Quest, (Dream the Impossible Dream) Bill’s statement is one of my experiences I could do without. Like the man in Old Man River, I get tired of trying. A little dream tucked in the corner of my mind helps to keep me going in the dark times. Often when the dream burns in my heart like Alpha Centauri, here comes reality with its little smirk and pulls me down to Earth.

As the world goes, I haven’t accomplished all that much, but I have achieved more and given more than had I attempted to live with reality alone. When the Lord lifted me out of the pit 51 years ago, the teachers of reality assured me I could never do most of the things I have done.

The pronouncements, “Larry that dream is not for you,” is false. If God wills, it is for me. Joseph was called a dreamer, yet in spite of much tribulation his dream became reality. So may yours.

Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

Just the medicine I needed to keep dreaming. Thanks for sharing. I am editing at the moment. It has been hard getting motivated since dealing with our most recent loss. But when reality reminds you of the obstacles and our human limitations, God has a way of sending His angels to lift us up. Be blessed! And keep moving forward. Love to Joyce.

So timely, and a good one to tuck away for discouraging times. Thanks.

Thank you so much for today's article. If we are not careful we become like Peter who took his eyes off Jesus and we sink. We find we have lost sight of Jesus and thus our dreams. This where our dreams need to reside. In Jesus. Thanks so much for what I needed to day.
