LLLV17 8-31-2017 Lee Iacocca on What’s Most Important
That we live in a time that may be called, The Era of Confusion, is agreed upon by a clear majority. The trouble is there is no agreement defining the area that must be corrected if we are to recover.
Bigger, more powerful government is posited by many. Others, as vociferous as the big government voices, promote draining, the swamp by the Potomac. And still others proclaim a more robust economy, ad infinitum.
A man, born to Italian Immigrants rose to business fame at Ford and later at Chrysler, had an important take on the oft mentioned, but most forsaken institution, that makes ,a if not the, difference in the prosperity of nations. Note his take:
“No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?” Lee Iacocca.
Jesus asked; "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Mark 8:36. Is it too much of a stretch to add “or his family?”
A deep or shallow study of scripture will reveal truths about the family from God’s perspective. These truths, when ignored, invite trouble that can last for generations. When the principles are followed in the spirit they are given the chances for what we would call a successful family are increased dramatically.
The Lord goes to great lengths to have us take heed that His formula is based on the individuals bent, or his/natural gifts, personality etc. There is no such thing as one size fits all. Time to study what our children are all about means that we, with God’s help, craft a mold that fits the will of God for the child.
The same concept is true in husband/wife growing together instead of apart. All the instructions for the family require study and prayer as well as practice.
We count the multi-billionaires as successful, yet the man and woman that have grasped God’s plan and implemented it are tremendously successful in an area that is blessed beyond any material abundance.
