LLLV17 8-17-2017 Jesus, Prayer and Colt Equals Happy Marriage
People do strange things and often these aberrations are for even stranger reasons. Take the case of a man I will dub, LJR, real initials. LJR is 71 years of age and decided on action that many find out there.
The poor man was so worn out from long years of a marriage that he found less than fulfilling, he thought he had discovered the perfect way to get away from his wife!
LJR left the house, drove a short distance to the local branch of the bank, entered the bank and robbed it of $2,924 dollars. He took a seat and waited on the police. He was arrested, and shortly plead guilty and was sentenced by a calloused, hard hearted judge to cruel and unusual punishment. He had mentioned to the judge that he robbed the bank to be sent to prison, and thus get away from his wife!
The wicked judge sentenced LJR to Home Confinement and 50 hours of Community Service!
I question the constitutional legality of the sentence due to the Eighth Amendment of cruel and unusual punishment!
Many men, wiser than LJR, manage to spend time away via working a tremendous amount of overtime, under the guise of saving for retirement or college for the grandkids etc. This seems to work and the wife goes along with this ploy to increase her private space. She will tell the darling hubby, that she doesn’t know how she will make if the Lord takes hubby first, so a larger nest egg would really help.
Back in the 70’s I discovered that a married couple, in ministry that had written several books on Happy Marriages, slept in separate bedrooms, he in San Diego and she in Palo Alto. This worked much better than a prison cell.
The secret of Joyce and I staying married for 53 years come August 29th is simple. We love Jesus, we pray and respect each other, plus one unforgettable event, at least for me. We had been married only a few weeks. We were taking a walk along an abandoned railroad track, we each had a western type Colt Six shooter in holsters. As we walked along, a snake raised its head on a stump. I had said a sharp word to Joyce. She glared at me, drew her Colt and at about 20 yards shot the snakes head off. She again glared at me, holstered the Colt and we have lived in harmony these many years.
