Jesus Christ The Quintessential Babe

LLLV18 12-17-2018 Jesus Christ The Quintessential Babe

Over long years many pastors, preachers and other forms of major or minor theolog’s reached a conclusion about the biblical emphasis on Jesus Christ as the Babe in the manger. What we call Christmas Day, well, that’s another story. The Babe emphasized is THE story of the ages. God, Incarnating Himself, via overshadowing Mary is after two thousand years beyond comprehension.

Many things about Jesus are not understood, by even the best minds. However, they are felt at the deepest levels of the heart.

The well informed Temple Shepherds left their flock at the word of the angelic host and knelt in wonder at the sight of the Babe lying in the manger. A while later, wise men from the east brought exotic gifts and knelt in amazement at the young Child.

There is no age at which some men and women were not moved to awe in His presence. Even the arrogant Pilate could find no fault in Him.

The modern self-absorbed society in which we live has lost the sense of wonder and moved to a “could be” stance on the mystery of the ages and pay scant attention to the glory that “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.” Our society is suffering from this loss of awareness of the wonder.

I suppose the gruesome reality of 60 million unborn children being denied their first breath at the hands of brutal butchers dressed in the garment of healers, has had a callusing effect on the heart of society at large. We should revere the life of the innocent if for no other reason than God revealed His love to us, at first in The Child.

King Herod was the first who wanted to kill the Child, but he was not the last. A little thought will reveal that each murdered child, is an assault on The Child and all He represents in life and eternity.

The connection between Jesus and children is beyond our ability, but we do have a little more than hints when Jesus made this proclamation in Mark 9:37:

"Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me."

Jesus really does love the little children!
