Doug Larson was quoted with a word to those who would be wise or need to measure their wisdom. His statement is a gem to treasure.
Doug wrote, “Wisdom is the quality that keeps you from getting into situations where you need it.”
Over our life we make many dumb choices and a few major ones. If all of my choices had been along the plain dumb line, many to whom I have ministered would have never heard of me. Therefore, I thank the Lord for said consequences of major, but unwise choices.
On the other hand, I thank Jesus for the precious major and wise choices along the journey. Trusting Jesus is a major choice. Along the same line is the prayerful and wise choice concerning asking for the hand of Joyce in marriage. I am aware that she must have some musings about the wisdom of her acceptance of the proposal. Yet she has had the wisdom from above to make our life together one of joy and beauty.
Notice James’ benchmark on wisdom.
James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
So, how are you doing?
