In a real life scene out of an action movie an unlikely hero emerged. A female police officer, under attack from a deranged, much larger female, who was near success in her attempt to get the officer’s pistol, was foiled in this attempt by a homeless man.
In the critical moment of the melee the homeless man subdued that attacker and likely saved the officer’s life. He simply used a technique learned from his father in the long ago, brought the attacker under his control and held her until other officers arrived. He then simply melted into the crowd and vanished. The attack happened on a Monday and the police could not locate him until that Friday.
He then explained, “An officer was being beaten up, a human, so I did what was right.”
The officers who found him bought him a new pair of headphones, as his were broken in the fight. One said, “He has been homeless; he’s had a rough time in recent months. We wanted to help him and let him know he has friends.”
The hero’s name is Ryan Raso. His father was a detective in New York City. It could be that the homeless Ryan Raso did the “right thing” because of his father.
The Point? Due to our Father, we Christians should intervene regardless of our personal status, as we can, in the really tough mess folks get into, because of our Father. The family name is on the line.
