The list of ethical teachings is very long and much longer if you add the teachings in the epistles. Yet the resurrection is broader than even the ethical life changing beauty laid out in the scriptures.
Paul states the core truth concerning the resurrection of Jesus with this statement,
Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
The ethical expectations laid on us by the teaching of Jesus Christ, which He taught and followed, are made possible in weak humans because He, via the Holy Spirit, indwelling us, enables us to live godly in Christ Jesus! It all comes down to the simple truth, when I am willing to be like Him in the instances of life, He is always near with the power to say no to sin and yes to life, to the right.
Paul puts this truth into his prayer to stay close to Jesus in his daily and life walk in Php 3:10 “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
The premise being that if the Spirit is powerful enough to bring Christ alive after being dead for three days and nights, then surely He, the Holy Spirit, can and will enable us to live a life of victory as we choose to live by and for Him.
In his book, Experiencing The Resurrection: The Everyday Encounter That Changes Your Life, Henry Blackaby wrote:
“The resurrection is more than just an event that happened once in history. It’s the source of the power you can experience in your own life, every day. The same power that resurrected Jesus from death to life is available to you, and if you tap into it, you’ll see amazing transformation in your own life, too.”
