A Short Time With Larry 3-25-2020
Two giants, the late Helen Keller and theologian
Dave Barry commented on the value of getting rid of pessimistic traits:
Here’s Helen:
No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.”
Theology expert Dave Barry stated it like this:
“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.”
Joyce wrote a book review for Larry Lilly’s Journal on a book our late friend and early mentor, Dr. Grant Nelson, wrote about Nehemiah on rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. Dr. Nelson pointed out that Nehemiah, the Wine Steward for the King felt led of God to rebuild the wall.
The wall was falling, the city was filled with trash as high a horse’s bridle. Yet in 50 days, with no expertise in laying stone, or carpentry, and with serious opposition, the wall was finished!
Pessimistically impossible!
