Gossip! It's no Laughing Matter.

A Short Time With Larry 10-22-2020 gossip

Listen: http://www.larrylilly.net/blog

President Teddy Roosevelt’s daughter became famous for this line on gossip:

“If you can’t say something good about someone, sit right here by me.” Alice Roosevelt Longworth.

The quote gets at least a chuckle, and often a belly laugh.

The truth be known, the reputation of many people are robbed each day by gossip than by facts. Along this line, my pastor, Dr. Tom Wallace, advised me while I was young to be very careful about gossip, including using the truth maliciously. I have attempted to follow his advice.

Advice from another is this:

“One reason the dog has so many friends: he wags his tail instead of his tongue.”

Solomon gives this gem:
An evil man sows strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Proverbs 16:28 TLB.

James teaches us to “Bridle the Tongue.”
