Epictetus, born a slave in 55 AD and lived to about 80 years of age yet his writings still exist with influence on many said: "Thou oughtest to be one kind of man, either a good man or a bad man."

A large book could be written concerning the enormous inner conflicts due to human frailty. Psychiatrists know they owe their living due to human frailty. Man, as a whole cannot decide whether he is good or bad and thus the conflict.

Actually the battle was decided in Eden at the beginning. The human Federal Head, Adam made the choice for us with a large body of biblical evidence that while Eve was deceived, Adam made an emotional choice. He found out as have following humans, that whatever the reason for willful disobedience, a penalty follows and thus the statement in 1 Corinthians 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

The physical birth guarantees physical death. Likewise the new birth, or born again are guaranteed more than Adam lost through our relationship with Christ. All will agree that a man should be as he appears to others. Otherwise he is a hypocrite or worse.

One thing is for sure, halfhearted or half minded people have a lot more conflict than those who live wholeheartedly for Christ. Paul had singleness of purpose in mind when he wrote, "This one thing I do.."
