10-14-13 Fame or Not, I Will Live Forever
By the use of quotes from famous people, most of them people of character and accomplishment, which I compare to biblical instruction, I find my mind enriched and moved toward a life of more and higher quality, achievement and enjoyment.
S.I. Hayakawa said,
“In a real sense, people who have read good literature have lived more than people who cannot or will not read. It is not true that we have only one life to live; if we can read, we can live as many more lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.”
One of the arts of reading is to lose yourself in the story, in your mind to live the life of the hero or heroine. I stick to male heroes.
I love reading a good book. This love of good books has spanned the scope of literature and on occasion enjoyed an issue or two of Mad Magazine! In this I have learned a few things that may help me to survive someday. I learned from Hemingway to never crawl into a recently dead Buffalo carcass on a cold night trying to keep warm.
I have been learning the best path for life through immersion into biblical truth; along with this knowledge the truth for eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Paul put it this way in 1 Timothy 4:13, “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
