The importance of now cannot be over emphasized, especially on things spiritual. Consider the concept of new beginnings. New starts are part and parcel of the biblical message and an often overlooked point is extremely important.

Can you undo time? Can you go back and start over, say in 1974? If this were possible I would get the old time travel vehicle out and head to that year, or any year, and make adjustments. We can’t do this. We can have forgiveness, but to make a new start in 1974 is not going to happen.

Maria Robinson shares a truth that really helps, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

Many life trainers insist that a plan be mapped out and repeat the mantra, “We start today.” Have you ever said, “I wish I had started this years ago?” If so, you are in the vast majority. Dennis Waitley made a fortune convincing people that there is no such place as “Someday Isle.”

God is on record as insisting on now rather than later. Notice Paul’s admonition to the church at Corinth, 2 Corinthians 6:2, “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” Many who plan on 12:00 O’Clock die at 11:59. Now.

I just came from a home where tragedy had struck at 11:59. The lady was in the very act of saving her data to a DVD when her computer died. It was still under warranty, but the unsaved data was not warranted, and it had been a month since it was saved.

Its not that she was a bad person. But nice as she was, she had put off getting her data saved, like she would always have another day, until the end came like a thief in the night.

I put her hard drive into an external enclosure and plugged it into her Windows 7 desktop, but that turned out to be a false hope, as there was some corruption and it was not recognized. So I rebooted her desktop with a live LInux CD, and what was lost got a second chance and was saved.

Reckon I won't have to ask her every week, "If your computer died today, do you know that your data would be saved ?" But will that lesson translate to making sure that more important things are saved?

Dear Dr. Lilly you have again hit the target for me and many others I am sure. We are terrible procrastinators! Thanks for this reminder. I don't know Oral Deckard; but, I really enjoyed his post also.

Thank you David. She had been using SkyDrive, but that savior proved woefully inadequate. I caution people to not choose cloud backups randomly, but to be certain they have one that will actually do what it claims if they want their data to be saved. Flashy ads from new kids on the block don't cut it. Does it have a track record of success? Or is it another bunch of empty promises ?
