Dealing with my Worst Enemy
I often receive notice that some person is interested in “Making trouble for you Dr. Lilly.” Other threats are more veiled but mean the same. Most of you, my faithful readers, have experience along this line. Everyone who attempts anything beyond ordinary does make enemies and will until we go home.
I learned as a teen riding on a freight train that I was able to get myself into more trouble than any person could bring to me. Then as a Christ believer at 20, I read this little saying from the world impacting preacher, D.L Moody:
“I have had more trouble with myself than with any other man.”
Mr. Moody, as a world famed evangelist in his own time, shook two continents with the simple Gospel of Christ and thus a myriad of enemies is certain. As any observer of the passing scene within Christianity may suspect, about fifty percent of different group’s sole purpose is the annihilation of the other fifty percent. Yet, Moody admitted to being his own worst enemy.
I accept the biblical truth of the old nature being totally eradicated when I see Jesus rather than in this portion of life. I must accept the fact that no one else can win the title of Larry Lilly’s Worst Enemy. I am the undisputed champion.
Romans 7:24, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
