Over the years Corrie ten Boom has been a heroine whom I admire for her simple, down to earth life, and near lifelong trust in Christ under enormous pressure, including Nazi Concentration Camps. In spite of her fame, she presented the aura of genuine. I heard her speak one time and I thought, any minute now, she is going to say, “I’m sorry, but I have to gather the eggs. God bless.”
Sunday past I used a quote from Corrie and I haven’t been able to shake the truth of it, so perhaps it will help you today.
“When we are powerless to do a thing, it is a great joy that we can come and step inside the ability of Jesus.”
A friend mentioned that we are not in Christ, but it is Christ in us that is the hope of Glory. I attempted to be nice, but I have never been good at this, so I bit my tongue and waited a full eight hours prior to sending a ream of verses that teach that as Christ lives in us, and we also live and serve in him. My favorite verse is Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
So Corrie shared a sublime truth; when we are out of our league, we can and should emphasize that putting on Christ is the full armor of God.
