For 37 years I have invested time, talent and treasure attempting to rescue Christian Workers who have made a mess of things. By the grace and mercy of God I have played a part in staving off the perishing of some.
By perishing please understand that I am using the meaning of the word when applied to those who are Gods' children through faith in Christ.
Those who do not understand salvation often line up in attempts to keep the straying brother or sister down and drying up while applying the sting of criticism to me.
Dr. Douglas McCorkle told how a shepherd deals with a lamb that is prone to wander. The shepherd leaves the flock and finds the wandering lamb. He carries the critter back to the flock. The lamb takes off again, the same routine follows and after three or four incidents the shepherd would break the lambs' leg rendering it unable to wander while the shepherd and the lamb develop a stronger bond. Usually the sheep will have a noticeable limp identifying it as one who wondered, often with a snicker from onlookers.
It is true the limp is a sign of a former wanderer, but more of the shepherds' untiring love. "He rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine that went not astray." Matthew 18:13.
