Ken Ham founder and president of the unique Creation Museum outside of Cincinnati, Ohio stated:
"Regretfully, brilliant men are capable of brilliant sinning."
The insanity of brilliant men is the stuff of shiploads of fiction and tragically biography. It is a matter of history that some of the most brilliant people who ever lived had a bent to evil. Current events reveal the same trait.
A visit to any prison will reveal men and women of astounding brilliance being used in a destructive rather than a beneficial manner. Adolph Hitler fit this mold.
As a believer in Creation by God I naturally accept the original fact that we humans are born for greatness resulting from the Lord’s brilliance operating in our life. Yet due to the predisposition to sin we get into mess after mess and more often than not our very good intellect turns to disaster.
One of the purposes of God’s word is to provide knowledge of deliverance and a guide for the one in whom God’s Spirit is working. Paul gives a checklist in Galatians 5 listing a boatload of sins but brilliantly gives nine results of the spirit of God working inside our life. The principle of contrast is at work in the passage and we simply look at the nature of our thoughts, feelings and actions, check out the list and thereby know whether they are good or evil.
Evil brilliance is always destructive. Avoid it.
