Here are two thoughts from Oral Deckard’s on spot comments from Autophobia #2. (The entire comment is right on).
Being alone doesn't sound so bad, until you have had enough and need the balance. And how bad can it get? The extreme punishment in prison is solitary confinement. It is so bad that it leads to depression, and sometimes to suicide.
On the other hand some men and women get so crazy with the high volume, mindless content of prison babble that they actually do something just to be placed in solitary confinement. Oral’s right. Life needs a balance. And what is balance for one person may not be balance for another.
Oral’s insightful closing line:
So what do you do for understanding when there isn't a person anywhere that can truly understand where you are coming from, because they do not know your innermost thoughts?
The thought that any human honestly knows your innermost thoughts is an illusion, with one exception, Jesus Christ.
Failure to learn to find your balance can lead to tragedy, such as with Whitney Houston. Note her statement: “I finally faced the fact that it isn’t a crime not having friends. Being alone means you have fewer problems.”
We all know that people are problems. But without them we have bigger and more dangerous ones. Most suicides are committed while alone.
2 Corinthians 4:9, “Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” Christians are never truly alone.
