The other night while attending a revival meeting at Pastor Jim Haddix church, the speaker noted a feature of hell I have never thought about. The evangelist’s statement, “Hell is a place of tormenting existence, alone.”
The scripture does say Isaiah 5:14, “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” I take this to mean there are more than a few inhabitants thereof, the inhabitants will suffer the plague that many complain of during the earthly sojourn, “I feel alone, even in a crowd.” Check Luke 16:26, us vs you.
In the beginning God, our Creator, stated, “It is not good for man to be alone.” Thus the women entered. While many who marry the wrong type of mate for them imagine the wonder of being alone for just a while, if/when they end up in the place of our conversation today, will suffer alone in a way never before dreamed.
If the truth be told, I am of the opinion that most people at a party are there to be seen, and when a moment of reflection takes place, they are alone, looking out of themselves at others, the others pretending not to be in the same boat.
While true Christian Fellowship alleviates this, such fellowship is as Shakespeare typed another seldom seen/experienced phenomenon, "Consistency, consistency, thou art the rarest of jewels." Consistency, good. Alone, bad.
