LLLV19 1-24-2019 Such a Time as This John Stonestreet
One of the great Old Testament verses is one used by Mordecai to Esther in Chapter 4:14 the last phrase:
“Yet who knows whether you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?”
Esther was in what we would call a predicament. According to the reasoning, I believe correct logic; the Jews were goners, including Esther. Their only hope was an intervention by God, and historically God uses people or a person. Therefore, the task entrusted to Esther was to be faithful to God. Mordecai understood that Esther and the Jews were already dead, yet God could use her if He chose.
Thankfully Esther made the right choice to obey God and leave the consequences to Him. The book of Esther is one the most fascinating in the O.T.
The other day while browsing through the plethora of daily emails I come across a statement from one of Charles Colson’s proteges, John Stonestreet. See what you think:
“I can say I know four things with a great amount of certainty: Christ is risen, Christ is Lord, Christ will restore all things, and Christ has called us to this cultural moment.” John Stonestreet.
We do not live in the days of Queen Esther, but we are living now. And now the nations are raging much like the coming prophesied days in Luke 21. We must admit that the call for men and women of God is to stand against the night. Paul taught this here:
Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.”
In plain language, do not cave into the mores of the current culture of death.
