Dale Byers sent a list of quotes from Winston Churchill to me and I think the last one is a subtle message to me. See what you think:
On being asked by a young Member of Parliament how he could put more fire into the speech he had just made, Churchill responded, “What you should have done is put the speech into the fire.”
I have been preparing and delivering speeches/sermons for fifty years and I still have far too many elderly saints kindly remarking as they leave the building, “Keep trying Sonny.” There appears to be a growing throng that fails to recognize my greatness.
I recently took note of remarks by the Great Blonde made during the hottest summer on record; often as she was editing some of these daily offerings she would strike a line and mutter, “I sure wish we had a fireplace.” I don’t know rather my article brought forth the longing for a fireplace, but I wonder due to the preponderance of evidence.
I admit to receiving comfort from Jesus, The Great Encourager. Through the Spirit He reminded me of Jonah 4:11:
“And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand;”
This verse seemed to be saying “Larry, factoring in your IQ you are doing very well.” I am one of a great number.
