Over the years I have written on numerous occasions of the terrible penalty heaped upon the children of Adam and of Christ due to walking around, tossing and turning all through long nights, broken homes, dashed hopes and dreams turning to nightmares, all due to anger and its many varieties.
A friend that I hadn’t heard from in years contacted me the other day, brought me up to date on a few other friends and told me of the home going of her twin sister 16 years ago. In her email she told me of her ministry to hurting people and shared a progressive bit of prose about anger. Shirlee Lane wrote:
“Grudges turn into anger
Anger into hate
Hate into a stance
A stance into unforgiving
Unforgiving into a Heart of Stone
A Heart of Stone into a wasted life.”
If we could recover the losses racked up due to the ravages of rage (wrath) we could pay off the national debt. In our lifetime multitudes of families have been, and are, plagued by monstrous rage, so much so that we call them “angelic” because they are up in the air harping all the time. Living in such an environment is unhealthy.
The primary agent in avoiding this wasting of life is quickly and freely forgiving as Christ teaches us. Paul advised in Ephesians 4:26, “Be angrye but synne not let not the sonne go doune apon your wrathe.”
Take care, now.
