On our 50th Wedding Anniversary trip to Alaska via the Inside Passage, while traveling from Juneau to a rendezvous with our ship, Westerdam, we saw over 50 whales of different types. The whales are created wonders to the max. While doing a little research on whales I stumbled across a great line by Gregory Colbert:
“Whales do not sing because they have an answer, they sing because they have a song.”
Our world is in a mess of apocalyptic proportion, and many if not most have no real answers for the moment. We rely on God’s sovereignty, and thousands upon thousands of clichés, but right on point, to the moment real answers are very hard to come by.
A man asked me the other day, “Larry, what is your best answer to the current economic troubles?” My answer startled him; “I am certain the answer is something we are not doing.” I know it seems trite, but it’s the best answer I have. And I think it’s pretty accurate as far as it goes.
Due to several different events, I live in a smaller house, operate a smaller ministry and have far less money than a few years ago. So I sing.
I sing because I belong to Jesus. The other things in life are given or withheld by His will and reason. So I sing.
My part in the great scheme of things is to abide faithful. Jesus gave me a song. So, like the whales, I sing.
