July 2, 2013 marks the 76th Anniversary of the day Amelia Earhart took off from Lae, New Guinea and was never seen again. No one knows for sure just what happened to her and her co-pilot Fred Noonan. Her demise is shrouded in mystery.
A ruling mantra of her life tells you a lot about her attitude, one that speaks volumes about life in general and is an essential part of true living.
“Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.” Amelia Earhart.
The prophet Isaiah defines the promise of peace and the key to it here: Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Perfect, mature peace means that we choose to use our mind, thoughts, and or, imagination, to focus on the positive things resulting from trusting God.
To live in fear is using our mind, thoughts and imagination to expect the worst and tremble at the thought. Joshua was warned about this in Joshua 1:9, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” The word dismayed carries the meaning of “being paralyzed with fear.” I’m sure you see the choice, fear or faith, anxiety or peace.
When forced to fly, some try to keep from putting all of their weight on the seat.
