“Do we not see that noble cities are erected by the people and destroyed by princes? That a state grows rich by the industry of its citizens and is plundered by the rapacity of its rulers? That good laws are enacted by representatives of the people and violated by Kings? That the commons love peace and monarchs foment war?”

The premise of Erasmus certainly was prevalent and visible in the times in which our nation suffered the pains of birth as free and brave people. Early America’s sacrifice was for a true republic of leaders bound by the constitution to stand and labor for the principles of personal freedom with a bare “smidgeon” of central government interference.
The idea of “freedom from governmental interference with personal liberty” has its root in Bibliology, the teaching of God’s plan revealed in scripture, namely, the priesthood of all believers.
In our day, the hew and cry, the clamour, is to scuttle any reference to God as revealed in scripture. Truth be known, when this thought runs its course, left will be the ideology of Hegal, “The State is god walking around on earth.”
On the basis of history, the agreement of scholars, such as Erasmus, the Bible, and our Founding Fathers, let’s celebrate the 4th of July with the zeal of faith in Christ.
