One of the dirtiest tricks ever played on us is a conspiracy with many tentacles: the word of others, faulty observation and our own mind. Here’s a hint, If I had been born in a different time, to different parents, with different finances, in different country, married a different woman, I would be successful.
Commenting on the different mentality Richard L. Evans wrote:
“Don't let life discourage you; everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.”
The old line is true, we are all born naked resulting in our life being shaped by others. At true maturity we are awakened to the truth that we are fundamentally unlike any other, grasping responsibility to God and ourselves for the edge of our living. At this point it is good to start asking ourselves a few questions and learning to live from that platform. I reached this point a little later than many others, but a few questions, and answers, set me on fire.
What does Christ expect of me? In what manner has He gifted me? How should I respond to the daily humdrum as well as the moments of stark terror? I eventually condensed these and a few more thoughts to a biblical perspective and use Job 23:10, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” as a marker of courage. It works in my life.
